Production and Manufacture of Polyethylene TubesOur plastic Polyethylene tubes are manufactured, printed and capped in-line. Special decoration such as Hot stamping, foil blocking, and labelling are secondary processes.The first stage of production, the polymer is melted and combined with a masterbatch pigment (if the tube is coloured). The melted polymer is extruded into one long tube which is cut in to "sleeves" of the appropriate length.
The tube
sleeves are then transferred to the header unit where the
shoulder is applied, the shoulder incorporates the nozzle,
thread and orifice of the tube. Raw Materials Polyethylene TubesOur preferred plastic for production of the tubes is a mixture of high density (HDPE) and low density (LDPE) polyethylene. Their composition determines the hardness of the tube. For soft tubes, we use more low density polyethylene (LDPE), for hard tubes more high density polyethylene (HDPE).Tubes can be produced in single or multi-layers. Our five-layer version incorporates a EVOH  (Ethylene and vinyl alcohol) layer
acting as a barrier. It consists of a thin, middle layer,
connected with a special adhesive layer with the external and
internal layers of the tube made of a polyethylene mixture.This barrier layer provides excellent product protection, preventing transmission of ingredients such as oxygen, flavours, water vapor, purfumes and sunscreen through the body of the tube. This quality making perfect packaging for pahrmaceutical products. |
